  1. The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2020 is shared by Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M. Rice ‘for the discovery of Hepatitis C virus’.
  2. The Nobel Prize in Physics 2020 is awarded for two separate discoveries. Roger Penrose is awarded ‘for the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity’. Besides this Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez jointly shared the award ‘for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of our galaxy’.
  3. The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2020 is shared by Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer A. Doudna ‘for the development of a method for genome editing’.
  4. The Nobel Prize in Literature 2020 goes to American poet Louise Gluck ‘for her unmistakable poetic voice that with austere beauty makes individual existence universal’.
  5. The Nobel Peace Prize 2020 is awarded to World Food Programme [WPF] ‘for its efforts to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict’.
  6. The Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 2020 is jointly awarded to Paul R. Milgrom and Robert B. Wilson ‘for improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats’.
  7. Charanjit Surinder Singh Attra becomes the new Chief Financial Officer [CFO] of State Bank of India [SBI].
  8. World’s longest 9.02 Km highway tunnel, Atal Tunnel has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh. The tunnel is built by Border Roads Organisation [BRO] and is named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
